Pecos River Youth Art Competition
Start date: August 19th, 2024
End date: September 21st, 2024 by 2pm
Winners will be announced on September 28th
The Pecos River flows for over 900 miles starting in the Sangre De Cristo mountain range and down into Mexico where it meets the Rio Grande. Currently the headwaters of the Pecos River face the threat of mining exploration which could put many at risk of losing the precious water source. The Pecos River is federally recognized as a Outstanding National Resource Water (ONRW) and provides water to millions everyday. Having pristine waters, which attract cold water fishing enthusiasts every year, it must be protected from severe pollution and degradation. Art is a technical skill which expresses what we can not say in words and can give others a view into the artist’s perspective. We seek youth to share their love of the Pecos River through creating art. Show us visually what the river means to you!
