Where does all the stormwater go?

I’m honored to work with some great practitioners of watershed science.  One of them, Aaron Kauffman of Southwest Urban Hydrology, told me that stormwater is one of the most under utilized resources in Santa Fe. I’ve heard the same from my friend, colleague and mayor, David Coss.  He guesstimated that Santa Fe could gain as much as 1,000 acre feet of water per year by building bioretention basins, rain gardens, and healing our eroding arroyos in the City of Santa Fe.  He may be right.

Enjoy the video I shot of the Arroyo de las Cruces by Frenchies Field flowing before the Santa Fe River does during a summer monsoon several years ago.
